Getting to know Amber Leigh Williams:

Tell us about your latest book and what you think readers will get out of it.

Fox & Hound is my debut novel, a romantic adventure about jewel thieves. Competing jewel thieves, Todd and Celestia, try to steal a diamond from Paris’s Louvre on the same night. She gets the diamond; he gets caught. After three years in prison, he goes after her, seeking revenge and the diamond she stole from him. When he finds out she was used by her partner, Bandero, they form an unlikely partnership. Bandero is planning to steal three of the world’s most coveted, heavily guarded diamonds…but the ones he wronged—Fox and Hound—plot to take them first. The dangerous journey gets even more risky when their initial attraction goes deeper. In the end, they have to choose what they want more: payback or each other.

There’s something fascinating about a story from the thief’s point of view. There aren’t many of these stories that weave love and/or romance into the heart of the plot. Fox & Hound mixes a lot of elements—action, adventure, drama, tragedy, comedy—but fills that missing void with Todd and Celestia’s love story. Because it has something for everyone, I hope every reader will take something from it—satisfaction above all.

Can you describe your characters to us? Do you pattern them after anyone you know or is it pure imagination?

Picking a favorite character is like picking a favorite child. It’s almost impossible. But Todd and Celestia hold a very special place in my heart. They were the first characters I got completely right from the start. I wrote a historical and its sequel before I wrote Fox & Hound and struggled so hard to get the protagonists right. I had to revise the stories so many times. It was a mess. I don’t know how it happened, but Todd and Celestia hit me out of nowhere—perfectly formed. I couldn’t help but plot their story. I wish I could have that much fun with every book.  Celestia is an heiress estranged from her family. She survived a tragedy early in life and it still affects her. Bandero also happens to be her ex-fiancé so this quest is especially personal for her. By the time Todd Orso struts into her life, she’s sworn off relationships and partnerships. But Todd has a way of knocking her walls down in a really healing way she can’t resist. She’s incredibly independent and stubborn so they butt heads a lot, which is entertaining for the rest of us J

Todd made this story fun for me. He’s a Texan boy who has a lazy manner, but there’s always that clever, potentially dangerous thief underneath. He’s a heartbreaker in faded jeans. He’s never been in a long-term relationship and has always steered away from commitment. Celestia changes all that for him. Although they don’t get along very well at times, they’re perfectly suited for each other. Todd meets his match in Celestia. He just has to convince her.

What genre have you not done but want to in the future?

I’d love to do paranormal. I just tend to over-analyze things. I’d drive myself nuts trying to figure every small detail out when the majority of it is supposed to be magic and left up to the reader’s imagination. I’d also like to write a western. I know that’s not too far in the future!

Tell us about your most erotic romantic fantasy. If you could have a 24-hour romantic fling with anyone you wanted, anywhere you wanted, where would you go, what would you do and with whom would you do it?

I can’t imagine being that way with anyone but my husband. Every time we try to be sexy, we end up laughing at each other. I love that about us!!!

I’ve always wanted to go to Paris. If I were rich, I’d book the most luxurious suite in the most expensive hotel with the most amazing view of the city. Then all we’d need is some satin sheets, a big bottle of wine, some strawberries and chocolate. I’d never leave!

If you could have one special super or magical power, what would it be?

I have the hardest time reading people. I’d kill to read minds. And I’m scared to death of flying so being able to teleport myself would be handy—especially for that trip to Paris!

If you could visit any time and place, where would it be and why?

I wish I could see the ‘40s and ‘50s just because the culture was so different. Life had a deeper quality and the important things really mattered. It frustrates me how much those things are taken for granted now. I’d love to go back to different times to interview my favorite writers and poets—Frost, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Austen, the Brontes, the Brownings, Keats, Byron, Shelley, Coleridge… Stop me now. LOL

Who’s more fun to write about: bad boys or perfect gentlemen and why?

A good mix of the two.  I love nothing more than a bad guy with a secret soft heart. Or someone like Mr. Darcy, a gentleman who’s judged as proud and arrogant but is really just afraid to say what he feels or doesn’t know how. Despite the obstacles, in the end love pushes him to overcome that and go after the girl he wants, no matter her circumstance. I love that!

VIN Diesel or Gerard Butler?

Timeline, 300, and Phantom of the Opera are on my Favorites list so I have to say Gerry!

Do you watch Realty TV? If so, what is one of your guilty pleasures? if not, then what do you prefer to watch?

I’m addicted to America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars! There’s a lot of good drama shows on right now: Bones, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Women’s Murder Club, Cashmere Mafia, and my favorite—Supernatural. Can’t get enough of it! And I’m always waiting for J.D. Robb’s In Death series to be made into a TV series. That would make great television!
