In the Spotlight: Destiny Blaine and a contest from Destiny!

5 08 2008

Tell us about your upcoming release and what you hope readers will enjoy about it.

Winning Virgin Love is the second story in the Winning Virgin series. A paranormal/urban fantasy, I hope everyone who reads Winning Virgin Love will want to go back and grab the first book too (Winning Virgin Blood). Books 1 and 2 cover the lives and stories of the Spenser twins (Almonzo and Orlando) and their little sister will have her own book also—Winning Virgin Lust (Coming in October). The ultimate ‘wish’ or hope will be for readers to follow this series through to the end.

If you could have one special super or magical power, what would it be?

The power to heal. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to possess healing powers? I think so. Imagine how it would feel to mend broken hearts and wounded souls one minute and a torn ligament or someone’s life-threatening disease, the next.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Write. I’m paying my dues right now so most of the time I am writing but on the rare occasion when I’m not writing, I’m generally doing something with my teenagers and husband. We’re an active sports-oriented family so we’re usually on the go between ballgames and sports complex centers! Then there’s always the adult playgrounds—casinos! I love poker and craps so whenever I have a few days to run, I’m typically casino-bound!

Bad boy/girl or perfect gentleman/woman to write about?

LOL! Well, I grew up on a cattle ranch/farm so you know I have to love a southern gentleman but the truth is—I prefer the bad boys! From cowboys to vampires, I want my heroes downright naughty!

If you could visit any time and place, where and when would it be and why?

I’ve been working on a western series (Branded—eXtasy) so I have to say right now, my heart (not to mention current thoughts) tends to stray to the Old West. I think it would’ve been wonderful to live around Stockton, California during the Gold Rush. Between the excitement and the handsome cowboys, a cowgirl sure had a lot of inspiration.

If you could be a shapeshifter, what form would you take and why?

Ah, that’s easy—a bird. I could fly away whenever I wanted to go explore new worlds.

Where are you published?

Currently, I’m published with some of the best of the best and I know I’m one of the lucky ones. I feel very fortunate to be published by very reputable small and mid-size publishing houses in our industry. My new and upcoming releases are with Siren/BookStrand, Whispers Publishing, eXtasy Books, Resplendence Publishing, and Excessica Publishing. I also have some of my short stories with Amira Press.

Where can readers reach you?

The best way to keep in touch with me is through Just Another Paranormal Monday or by visiting my blog. I’ve included the information below.

What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?

I love to write in all genres. I’m fickle when it comes to writing and it’s one of the things I love about this career. A writer can explore topics and worlds they typically wouldn’t visit any other way. Through writing for small presses and e-book publishers, an author has such a wide range of options and there are few ‘taboos’ to confine a writer. It’s a tough business but I wouldn’t change a thing now. I’ve met some wonderful people and made some lasting friendships. Plus, I’ve learned so much about myself and the rest of the world by researching various book topics. I have the best career in the world and thanks to the readers who read me, I get to do what I love—write!

Thank you for allowing me to visit with you today. Since day one, you’ve been one of my favorite people and I’m lucky to count you as one of my friends in the business.

Hugs!
Destiny

A sneak look into Book 1, Winning Virgin Blood by Destiny Blaine and Siren Publishing:

“Mother, Father! There you are!” Constance ran in and interrupted the meeting they were about to have. “Mother, look at the jewelry Orlando bought me from this woman called Tiffany. Isn’t it beautiful? And guess what, Father?” She turned with a gaze full of life ready to spill her so-called truths as she believed them.

“What, my dear?” Her father played along. His voice matched her enthusiasm as he bent down to allow Constance a knee to perch upon as she told her story.

Orlando paid more for it than most people pay for a Jaguar car!” Her lips pursed at just the right places. Then, they fell open precisely the same way to make sure everyone gained a real understanding of its value.

Almonzo rubbed the back of his neck, releasing a sigh. “I warned you last night.” He chuckled. “By the second.”

Evidently unconcerned with her brother, she continued. Eyes grew larger with each bigger tale. “Oh and do you know what, Mother?”

“What?” Marion shot her husband a look of astonishment, eyeing the diamonds gleaming within their setting.

“I think this was probably more expensive than a Rolls Royce.” The comparison just rolled off her tongue almost as elegantly as the car itself, and again her mouth formed a tight line in a matter-of-fact gesture.

Almonzo leaned on the dresser behind him, crossing his arms as he did. “Here we go.”

“You do?” Her father’s amusement gave the young beauty fuel to continue.

“Yes, indeed. I think maybe even more than a Bentley, and if I was in a betting mood, I’d bet that this necklace was more expensive than a Bugatti.” She nodded and placed her hands on her tiny little hips. She loved to be the center of attention.

Constance?” Samuel Spenser was ready to move on to the next topic after he saw his daughter’s extreme exaggeration.

“Yes, Father?” Her eyelids batted quickly.

“The Bugatti is the most expensive car, or one of the more expensive cars in the world.”

Never indicating that she thought any different, the young girl danced as she screamed excitedly. “I know, Daddy! I know! Isn’t it wonderful?”

Devon Falls: Haunting Magic

Book 4 in Series

Raine Delight

Paranormal Romance

Coming Fall 2008 from AMP

Rodrick Dracon is the twin heir to the Dragon Inn in Devon Falls. An empathic and a wolf, he knows his mate is around but after years of being foot loose and fancy free, he is finally realizing that he will only be complete if he can find her. When he runs into Jaxon “Jax” Sinclair one night just before Halloween, his body heats up and he is struck that his mate is her: this brazen, bossy, annoying yet lush female he has seen around town and at the local places he haunts. Can he get this feisty woman to heel and mark as his or will she turn the tables and calm the wolf?

********

Excerpt look:

Jax never thought to enjoy being home until she had a night like tonight helping Grady out. It was just too much, especially after spying Rodrick Dracon working his wiles on every single bubble headed woman there…except he never hit on her. Well, she can say honestly she had more than one brain cell and even though she enjoyed the way his jeans hugged his tight ass or the way his muscles bunched under his t-shirt that made her panties disappear from the lust that hit her like a freight train, Jax knew better than to even contemplate a night with the “stud master”, the nickname she stuck him after hearing about his conquests for years. He was too much of a playboy to even think of more than a one night stand.

Sighing as she tossed her shoes in the corner and after grabbing some water, walked into her bedroom, sank on the edge of her bed groaning as her aches ramped themselves up a notch and made her aware of how much she HATED dishes as well as men who think they are god’s creation to the race of women. What is it with men who think they need to add one more notch on that bedpost Jax muttered as she tossed her clothes into the corner, wrinkling her nose at the way stale beer, smoke and other undistinguishable smells wafted from them. Slowly making her way to the shower, Jax tried to figure why tonight of all nights she was bothered by the way the cheap floozies or bar fly’s, immediately spying Rodrick and flying to his side like bitches in heat. It was enough to make her ashamed to be part of that species. Testing the shower, Jax stepped inside and tried to erase the sight of not one, not two but THREE women draped all over this man like leeches. Soaping down and letting the hot water ease her aches, Jax muttered, If I ever get that desperate, I am definitely not adding myself to that man’s list because seriously who knows where he has been, if there is an enraged husband or boyfriend around the corner. One of these days, that man will find himself in a heap of trouble and I am going to laugh hysterically.

WIP: Club Fantasy

6 02 2008

Ok I am writing something really differnet and put up a teaser blurb a few days ago. Here is a sneak piece into who Larissa is and what happens. Please remember thi s is a WIP so it may change after it is edited and whatnot.

Club Fantasy teaser

Chapter One

“What the hell is going on here?”

Larissa Deveroux looked at the man who was supposed to be her boyfriend as he tried to explain why he was fucking her best friend…that is her supposed best friend; in their bed of all places. How cliché! She felt so detached from it all as she distantly watched Margo scramble across the bed, naked and trying to mumble about leaving while grabbing clothes. Watching this whole thing unfold was like one really bad romance novel gone wrong.

After the slam of the door was heard, Larissa shook her head and just looked at the man who she thought was to be her future. Nate Daniels was everything she thought she wanted in a man. Handsome, successful, had an up and coming career as a lawyer yet their sex life was the pits. It was like he made sure to satisfy himself first and foremost and forget about her. She faked so many damn orgasms to spare his ego, Larissa wondered if she should have just spoke up but then again finding him fucking Margo was an eye opener to say the least! Obviously one woman liked his boring style of sex.

“Get out Nate. We are done for. Thank god I made sure to keep my apartment in my name so no worries there. Grab the clothes you tossed off and drag your sorry ass out of here. Go to Margo’s, go to the moon for all I fucking care.” The anger seeped in Larissa’s voice. Her stormy blue eyes held no warmth, only anger, pain and humiliation. “I never want to see you again. I will have your things delivered to you later this week. Leave your key on the table as the door slams on your ass.”

“It is your entire fault, Larissa. You never made any effort to make me feel like the sun rose and set on me. I naturally turned to another woman because you are just one frigid bitch!” Nate whined angrily as he shoved his clothes on. Watching Larissa he got hard thinking of how he would have loved to make her see how to be mastered. “I hope to god you get what is coming to you, Larissa. Margo was just one of many I kept from you. Enjoy the solitude!” Nate threw Larissa’s key on the table and stomped out, slamming the door behind him.

Larissa watched as her future walked into the sunshine and flip her bird as tears pooled in her eyes and she angrily wiped them away. He wasn’t worth the tears, that two timing rat. But the way her heart hurt made more tears fall as she rested her head against the window pane. Why do I pick the wrong men? Larissa thought to herself as she closed her eyes and cried some more. I can never find the one man who wants to be with me and no one else. Am I not woman enough for them? Is there such a man out there? Sighing deeply, Larissa stood back from the window and tried to figure out what to do now. Changing the locks is the first order of business; boxing up rat face bastard’s stuff was another. But before she could do anything her cell phone rang. Looking at the dial, she saw it was her sister Syn.

“Hey there, sister of mine, what is up?” Larissa said as she tried to keep the sadness and hurt out of her voice.

“What’s going on, Larissa? Margo tore into the bookstore saying you thru out Nate, whom I have to say, is one of the best things you ever did!”

“Oh where do you want me to start? Oh I know with the bastard Nate fucking Margo, my supposed best friend in MY apartment.” Larissa said as the anger got to her again. The scene of walking into her apartment, hearing moans and slapping of flesh made her even madder than a hornet. “He claimed it was because I was frigid bitch that made him turn to other women.”

“What the fuck? Hang on; I am getting rid of some unwanted company.” Larissa heard the sounds of angry voices and a door slamming shut. Then Syn came back on the line. “There now Sugar, I am going to come by tonight and ease that broken heart of yours with some dinner and wine. Be ready…we are going out on the town afterwards. So look pretty and I can guarantee that you will find what you long for at t he most where I am taking you. Ok? Now I am off to make arrangements for dinner. Go rest and relax. I will take care of you, sis.”

“What…Syn, I just dumped Nate. I am in no mood to go out partying.” Larissa tried to say but as usual, Syn over ruled her and she heard the call click off as she contemplated Syn’s offer of a night of dinner, wine and possible entertainment.

Ok now I am off to write some more on this excitying club. *smiles wickedly*
