In the spotlight: Lena Austin & Tuesday Richards

26 06 2008

Meet Tuesday Richards:

Severely ADHD Tuesday Richards AKA Phoenix Forrester as a tendency to do too much in too little time, including raising two children, going to college, writing and running a promotions company.  In her spare time she chases her husband around the house.

She presently lives in Colorado where she spent 17 years of her life, also spending time in Maryland and Florida as part of a military family.

By herself Tuesday writes action adventure but when her brain is welded together with co-author Lena Austin she writes Romantic Comedy…The mystery is still unsolved.  Her favorite quote of all time is “I’m not the only hell my mother ever raised…I have sisters!”

Meet Lena Austin:

Someone cursed Lena Austin with “may you have a life so full you’ll have many tales to tell your grandchildren.”  Lena’s a “fallen” society wench with a checkered past. She’s been a licensed minister, hairdresser, realtor, radio DJ, exotic dancer, telephone service tech, live-steel medievalist swordswoman, BDSM Mistress, and investment property manager. Not necessarily in that order. She never finished that degree in marine archaeology, but did learn to scuba — she’s got a lifetime of “Research material!”

Hey, why waste these stories on kids who won’t listen anyway? Writing them down is a nice way to spend her retirement. What? You expected an ex-BDSM Mistress to take up crocheting or something?

Now to get to really know these two talented authors:

Tell us about your upcoming release and what you hope readers will enjoy about it.

 Tuesday says:

Night Critters 2: Faux Paws released June 19 and has had a fantastic response so far.  The one thing I think the readers will enjoy about this book is that it is funny and off kilter the way that Lena and I are.  LOL.  But it is a Romantic Comedy and with the way the world is today I think the readers would enjoy the laugh.

 Lena Says:

Faux Paws will release from Changeling Press in late June. This is the second in our Night Critters series, which is romantic comedy. We hope our readers get a laugh while enjoying hot sex with new shifters. Here’s the blurb:

Blurb: Lucky Thornburn, a Faux Paws, or shifter-born who can’t shift, meets a half-angel named Charm. Charm doesn’t need or want his chivalry, but she’s literally trouble on the wing. She wants to renovate her mother’s old house into a home for foster children just like Charm needed as a child before she was adopted. Lucky’s cold-hearted brother wants the same property for a shopping mall, so Lucky joins in Charm’s renovation project in defiance of his brother.

Once Lucky experiences Charm’s, well, charms, they become a team anyone would be fool to mess with. But JR isn’t going to give up so easily. And Charm? Well, Charm’s not going to give up at all. And Lucky’s coming right along with her, because he’s discovered something with the sexy Nephylum he never thought he’d find — which just might be enough to sway his nemesis of a brother.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Tuesday Says: I try to work as much as possible because my kids drive me nuts!  J/K!  Either I’m on the back of the motorcycle with my husband touring the mountains. Did you know that it is possible to make love in the snow if you lay down black plastic?  I am also the firm believer that motorcycles are the world’s biggest and most expensive vibrators!

I’m on the phone with Lena brainstorming ways to get ourselves in trouble, or I am catatonic in front of the television because I can no longer think.

Lena Says: Gardening, home renovation, faux stained glass, sewing, reading, research, visiting with grandchildren via webcam, and yakking on the phone for hours. You’d be surprised how much a writer misses the sound of human voices.

What season is your favorite and why?

Tuesday Says: My favorite season is in the Florida sun!  Being able to give the children to their grandmother and going to “bask” in the sun on the beach with my husband *wink*.

I live in Colorado right now so I love the spring and summer months…it reminds me of home.  However I miss the beach and the sexiness *wink, wink* of the sunset in Florida.

Lena Says: Summer all the way, baby! Give me profusions of flowers, the beach, a cool tropical drink, and lots of sunshine.

What would we find on your bookcase if we looked? What is one of your favorite authors?

Tuesday Says: I don’t really have a favorite author; I read anything by anybody if the blurb on the back of the book catches my attention.  I currently house anything from erotic to horror/suspense.  Usually if it’s readable, I’ll read it!

Lena Says: Bookcases, honey. Plural. There are five main ones, and a few small ones spread throughout the house. They run the gamut from non-fiction for research through romance, science fiction/fantasy, to how-to books on just about everything. LOL!

What was the last book you read (e or print) and did you like it?

Tuesday Says: I read the combined print of books 3 and 4 in The Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith.  I absolutely loved this series.  It was the first vampire books I had read in a very long time and it turned my opinion around about the vampire books.

I loved it and I highly recommend the books.

 Lena says: Mercedes Lackey.

 What makes a good book?

Tuesday Says: A good book is easy to read, grabs my attention and keeps it from the very first pages or with in the first chapter.  The characters are full of life and I can live their life through my imagination.

If I can read a book and see the characters unfold in my head like those in a movie then a book is really good.

Lena Says: Great characters, a surprising plot, and enough conflict to make me feel their hearts and get into their heads.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever done?

Tuesday Says: I have done many interesting things in my life but the one that stands out in my mind is a night trip on the motorcycle through the mountains with my DH on our 4th anniversary.  I had hidden some chocolate sauce in my backpack to warm, with a little lunch bag with some ice packs hiding some pineapple, whip cream, and a few cherries.

We found a secluded spot and had a picnic dinner under the stars.  After dinner my DH handcuffed me to the cooled motorcycle and gave me the ride of my life!

After he released me I decided it was time for desert and turned the tables I handcuffed him to the bike, and then turned him into a chocolate sundae with layers of pineapple, whip cream and chocolate sauce with a cherry on top.

Lena says: Working in the sex industry as a BDSM Mistress. It was hard work and took over my life, but people find it fascinating. It’s different than what people think. Everything about your life is centered on the submissives and their needs.

Boxers or briefs?

Tuesday says: I like the best of both worlds, Boxer Briefs!

Lena says: Briefs. If you’ve got it, show me that flesh. Boxers hide too much for my taste, and I despise the fad of having a man look like he doesn’t know how to dress because he wants to show off his boxers. Please! Pull up your pants, idiot!

Ben Affleck or Matt Damon to save the world?

Tuesday says: Both! After they’re done saving the world then they get a nice reward for their trouble while I nurse all their wounds with kisses and chocolate sauce.

Lena says: Can’t I have Sean Connery instead? Oh, if you insist. Ben Affleck.

What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?

Tuesday says: I am a fun young woman, who enjoys spending time with her children and her animals.  I love to write and run my promotions company, having found my niche in life when for a long time I was so lost I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do.

Then a lovely woman known as my mother told me to take my imagination and my life experiences and put them down on paper and that was the beginning of the end of Tuesday’s lost life!

Lena says: Um…You don’t ask easy questions do you? I love fan mail, and I do answer when they’re sent to my email directly. I don’t always get mail sent to my blogs or website. Please contact me directly. I love, love, love it when readers ask me about secondary characters or demand to know more about a given story. Please ask for what you want. Sometimes it may take me awhile, but I do keep in mind reader requests.

Where are you published?

 Tuesday says: Changeling Press (www.changelingpress.com)

Fire Drakes Weyr (www.firedrakesweyr.com)

Lena says: Changeling Press, Cerridwen Press, Loose Id, and coming later this year, Aspen Mountain Press.

Thanks for coming! J
